Carbon Dioxide Capture Demonstration Projects
Our company actively explores and practices the “green coal-fired power generation” technical route. In 2008, the 3,000 ton/year carbon dioxide capture system of Huaneng Beijing Co-generation Power Plant, the first power plant carbon dioxide capture system in China, was completed and put into production.
One year later, in 2009, the 100,000 tons/year carbon dioxide capture system demonstration project of Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou No.2 Power Plant, autonomously developed by Huaneng, was completed and put into production, which provides the conditions for the study of the large-proportion capture and geological storage technology of carbon dioxide, and offers new way of thinking and practical experiences for the energy saving and reduced emission in the power generation industry of China, thus making the carbon dioxide capture technology in China be at the advanced level in the world. Research and Development of Efficient Power Generation Technology
The increase in the thermal efficiency and the single-generator capacity of the coal-fired generator unit is the direction of the technical progress and the commanding height in the international power generation industry , it is also the technical breakthrough through which the power generation enterprises in China seek for the sustainable development, the generating equipment enterprises go to the international market to enhance the international competition strength of the equipment manufacturing industry in China. Huaneng Power International Inc. always actively pushes forward the localization process of the efficient large-capacity coal-fired generator units to the international leading level. In 2009, our company completed phase 1 task of “high efficient, environmental-friendly and large-scale thermal power technology, which has performed the necessary technical reserve for the development of the generator unit with the single-generator capacity over 1,000 MW, higher parameters and higher efficiency, and laid an important foundation for the pushing forward of technology, development of equipment and project demonstration.
Research of New technology and New Process
Our company has set up the research programs in many respects of energy saving, environmental protection, safety and new energy resources according to the needs of the technical progress in the current production, construction and long-term development. The research programs, which continued to be pushed forward in 2009 are: BCHP technical economic study ,which will lay the technical economic foundation for the realization of the large scale service of centralized air conditioning in the future city on the basis of the existing heating; the research of the recovery technique for the heat discharged from the flue gas and cold end of the thermal power generator unit, which will tap the potential for increasing the energy efficiency; the research of the optimization of the sea water desalination technology and technical process plan, which will create the conditions for the replenishing the local inhabitants with domestic water while solving the water used by the power plant; the research of the key technique for improving the operation reliability of the desulphurization system and the desulphurization efficiency to safeguard the efficiency with which the pollutants are treated by the equipment ; the research of the tidal power generation, offshore wind power generation, wind power station resources and industrial technique, photovoltaic and photo-thermal technical application, and tidal energy utilization technique, which will carry out the technical reserve for the development of the other feasible energy sources. In addition, our company has carried out the formulation of the corrosion prevention technique and design rules for the flue gas system and chimney facilities, the effect of high-temperature oxidation of metal of the new-type high-parameter boiler on the operative safety ,solutions and control guidelines, and continues to carry out the development and pilot test of the new-type high-strength gypsum products and processing technique for the purpose of increasing the utilization value of the gypsum ,the by-product of desulphurization.
